Penlea Retreat is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of life and relax. Our luxurious shepherds hut is set in its own private 150 ft garden with wooded glade and pond on the edge of beautiful Polperro, Cornwall. Enjoy the peace and rural charm of the surrounding area, while being just a 5-minute walk away from the village's pubs, restaurants and beach.

Enjoy our luxurious wood-fired hot tub with beautiful L.E.D underwater lighting. Listen to the owls hooting while sipping your favourite tipple and relax. Logs to heat the tub once per day are provided. Additional logs can be purchased at £10 per sack.

Dine in style in our fantastic new dining dome. It's like eating alfresco but indoors so you can enjoy your meal whatever the weather. The dome now has a mini woodburner and is a great place to sit back and relax, read, play a board game or just enjoy the view.

The dome and outdoor kitchen is for your own exclusive use and is included with your booking - there is no extra to pay.
Opposite the dome you have an outdoor kitchen. Learn to prepare and cook perfect pizzas with our wood fired Ooni pizza oven or grill your favourite dishes on your charcoal barbecue.

Our pizza package is only £20 per day/night for direct bookers and includes oven, dough, tomato sauce and fuel plus a lesson - bring your own favourite toppings. You can book the pizza package when booking your stay.
For the barbecue you need to bring your own charcoal plus whatever you plan on grilling.
Inside your hut you'll find a sumptuous double bed with luxury linen, a smart TV, a full kitchen with an induction hob, mini oven and an electric wood burning style stove. Every thing you need to ensure a good sleep, watch a movie or cook a feast.

A rare luxury in a shepherd's hut is our full bathroom complete with shower, flushing toilet, basin and heated towel rail.

What's more, you're just a five minute walk from beautiful Polperro harbour where you'll find pubs bursting with character, top quality restaurants and shops for groceries and even a fresh fish kiosk on the harbour. Boat trips to Looe and Fowey run regularly subject to the weather and you can also spend a couple of hours mackerel fishing.

Rare in Polperro is your own private parking space at the foot of the steps that lead up to your hut. No need to struggle with luggage from the village car park.

Things You Should Know

* Cows are often in the adjacent field during the summer.
*Smoking is not permitted in the hut, the dome or whilst in the hot tub.
* The walk to the village is down a steep hill and feels even steeper on the way back.
* There are steps up to the hut.
* We do not recommend Penlea Retreat to people with walking difficulties.
* We don't allow dogs as even though we love them our cats hate them.
* The maximum occupancy of the hut is two people and if one is a child the minimum age of the child is twelve.
* The pizza oven package is £20 per day/night. The package includes pizza oven hire with fuel, dough, tomato sauce and a lesson.
* You need to bring your own charcoal for the bbq.
* Check in from 3pm.
* Check out up to 11am.

What a great shepherd's hut. Tim and Helen have put a lot of thought into their peaceful retreat. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook for yourself and enjoy the great dinning dome. The hot tub is great too and Tim's instructions are really helpful. The location is really peaceful and private. Its also just a shot walk down to Polperro and the coast path.

Stunning location

Had a amazing week 5 minutes down steep hill to the village with the British legion half way down which may not look much from outside but inside its great and always something going on . There's another 4 pubs in village and plenty places to eat which we used on rainy days then back up to the hut relax in hot tub Close to looe which has great places to eat and great beach In all a great way to relax and unwind

Probably the most relaxing little holiday we’ve had for a long time. The set up had everything you could need. Especially loved the hot tub. Good to be able to park the car up and walk. We would definitely return
